ACTIVITY CHECK
SUBMISSION INFO

Activity Check consists of 20 comments between 2-3 threads. Furthermore, we will be asking for social link submissions.

Social link submissions are essentially a short writeup; please choose, at minimum, 2 pieces of CR in which your character has experienced some sort of shift in. By "shift", we mean anything as small as "my character now likes hanging out with A" to something more dramatic like "my character trusts A with their life". Negative shifts are also welcome! Just as long as something in your chosen pieces of CR has changed.

    For September:
    • If you submit 2 social link write ups, you will receive a reward from our character regains pool.
    • If you submit 3+ social link write ups, you will receive either a Magic Ointment (forms a barrier that reflects all magic spells once) or a Physical Ointment (forms a barrier that reflects all physical attacks once).

Keep writeups to no more than 4 sentences.

AC is due on the last day of each month. We will not be issuing official reminders, and those who fail to make AC will be swept.

Please follow the example in the comments on how to submit your activity!

Character: McGillis Fareed
Thread 1: Thread (11 comments)
Thread 2: Thread (12 comments)

Social Link Section:

Aaron has struck McGillis as one of the more reasonable people around here. He appreciates his critical mind as well as his open cynicism and will likely continue to springboard thoughts off of him.
Argenti has left a strong impression on uhhhh everyone this month. McGillis started out finding his theatrics in equal measures endearing and exhausting, but he has since learned there is a lot more going on below the surface. He is very interested in digging deeper into what knightliness means to Argenti.... provided Argenti doesn't decide he needs to die first, which would be an issue.
Kirumi is a member of Dead Club, which means McGillis feels an immediate affinity that he doesn't have with those who can be motivated by 'going home'. She is also a sharp mind, which he appreciates. Her maid job makes him very curious to find out more of her thoughts on class divide.

Character:
Thread 1: Thread with Eli (#13+ comments)
Thread 2: Thread with Izou (#25+ comments)

Social Link Section:

Izou - This dynamic is ground zero of McGillis trying to renegotiate his view on relationships as a whole. It's through Izou that he wants to prove that bonds will never make him stronger, while at the same time the possibility that someone could get close to him is somewhat tantalizing. There is so much projection with their respective betrayal situations going on here, it's not even funny. The real challenge here is going to be fully seeing and respecting each other as their own individuals, but we're not there yet.

Celeste - Who doesn't love some good old-fashioned recognition of the self in the other? Celeste is as close to a mirror as McGillis will ever find - their personal priorities may be different, but their traumas and emotional coping mechanisms are extremely similar. It makes Celeste someone with immense power to hurt him, but also someone he is tentatively at ease around. It feels good to not have to put effort into hiding.

Eli has firmly lodged himself in McGillis' social circle since Izou's palace. He might be the closest thing McGillis has to a normal 'friend' in this place, though he himself would never use that word. After Eli's mild reaction to the stabbing incident and Eli's general willingness to accommodate on the nickname issue, he's gained a measure of trust from McGillis. He's willing to be comfortable around him now.

October!

McGillis' Arc: McGillis died before he came here, which means that he started the game in the ruin of all that he used to be. Not only were his lifelong ambitions smashed and inaccessible to him, he'd also freshly admitted out loud that he does long for the love and forgiveness Gaelio had to offer. A lot of McGillis' time in the first half of Link Up was spent reckoning with this.

By the time of Argenti's palace McGillis came to terms with the facts that a) he could have fallen in love with Gaelio but also that b) his time in his world is irrevocably over and he has to let go of it.

Between that mourning period being done with, an embarrassing self-destructive outburst dealt with, and Braphine confirming that he'll need bonds to move to a different world and find a meaningful life for himself, McGillis finally found himself ready to actively spit on all that he used to be and experiment with letting people into his heart. He stills feels deeply apprehensive about what he is doing, but there are individuals who know him extremely extremely well and whom he would be loathe to lose.

McGillis is still very much a work in progress. He needs a new goal and a new life to keep him busy before he'll stop feeling like he's falling apart. But he's committed himself to his new people now and he'll push as far as he can go with it. He doesn't do things by half-measures.
